TUDELFT
Delft University of Technology (TU Delft, http://www.tudelft.nl/) is the oldest, largest and most comprehensive university of technology in the Netherlands. With nearly 25,000 students and 2,500 scientists (including 400 full professors), it is an establishment of national importance and of significant international standing. The University collaborates on a structural basis with other international education and research institutes and has partnerships with governments, branch organizations, numerous consultancies, industry partners and companies from the small and medium business sectors. The GIS technology (GISt) section is conducting fundamental and application oriented research for realization of Spatial Information Infrastructure, with the geo-Database Management Systems (geo-DBMSs) as core enabling technology. The GIS technology section consists of a highly experienced scientific team, which conducts research in the above mentioned areas and provides education in several MSc programs (MSc Geomatics and MSc GIMA). GISt cooperates with the international geo-ICT industry in order to improve instruments and products. This cooperation takes shape via the Geo-Database Management Center (GDMC), a research and development center that is part of the TU Delft (www.gdmc.nl). GISt is active in both national (NEN, Geonovum) and international (ISO TC211, OGC, INSPIRE) standardization of geo-information.
The main tasks of TU Delft are in WP5 (Validation) and WP6 (Standardization and Regulation). For WP5 the TU Delft experience with benchmarking systems (in context of GDMC) and the decades long collaborations with the Dutch Mapping and Cadastral agency are very valuable for the project. For WP6, the active role of TU Delft in standardization and especially the current leading role during the revision of the ISO standard 19152 on the Land Administration Domain Model is very well timed for the GISCAD-OV project as proposals for the project can be directly forwarded to ISO. Within FIG, the TU Delft is chairing the working group on 3D Cadastres.
